Nicholas Sparks is getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage. This is the big subject flying around on FB and Twitter. So, Im going to tell you something here that many people dont know. Youll now be able to have one of those, I know something you dont know! A tidbit. But... its not gossip cause youre getting it straight from the horses mouth. I interviewed this man and there is something that he said that absolutely floored me. In fact, I think they had to edit the interview because I couldnt stop laughing! Nicholas Sparks told me point blank that he hates to write! He also told me that every book he writes is different. That theres always a surprise at the end. More edited laughter. Gee, I hope hes not referring to the part where somebody dies. Cause somebody always does! Or that every book cover is the same. The hero and heroine are looking at one another. Dont get me wrong. Ive read my share of Nicholas Sparks novels. But they were usually the ones that I bought at a yard sale or used book store before I went to the beach. And it didnt take much imagination to know by the end of the first chapter who would do what and who would fall in love. It was just a matter of who would die and how. But thats ok. You dont read one of his books to discover the meaning of life. However, I heard another best selling author say something that I now realize is true. Nicholas Sparks found his niche and his formula. He was a man who could write books of a certain genre that appealed to women of a certain age, etc... and ta da! Another best seller is born. It was a formula that worked and he became very successful as a result! Should all of us writers be so lucky! Hopefully you know me well enough by now that Im not one to celebrate or take lightly the breakup of a marriage. But... I cant help finding it a bit ironic. I just hope it doesnt follow the formula!
