Niger APC guber aspirant denies being ‘PDP stooge’ 12 November 2014. An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Niger State, Senator Ibrahim Musa, has dismissed rumours that he is in to the race as a stooge of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Rumours that Senator Musa is sponsored by the state governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, went viral in the state, but the APC aspirant said there is no iota of truth in it. Senator Musa who represents Niger North Senatorial District at the Senate told journalists yesterday in Minna that the rumours were designed to ruin his governorship ambition, alleging that it was the handiwork of his opponent who is also vying for same position with him in APC, Abubakar Sani Bello. He said on the contrary, Bello should be the one to be accused of being conscripted by PDP to join the race in order to jeopardise the chances of the fast growing opposition party in the state having served under Governor Aliyu as a commissioner. “I am calling on all my supporters to disregard the speculation that I was given money by the PDP ruling party to join the governorship race, because it is not only false but mischievous. This goes a long way in exposing how desperate some politicians could be for power. I have never been a member of PDP and I cannot be one now, let alone be a stooge. “Instead of Abubakar Sani Bello to engage in politics of issues, he rather decided to toe same line of his paymasters on whose script he joined APC. We all know him as card carrying member of PDP and a onetime commissioner under PDP government. In this situation, who is likely to have sympathy for PDP between us?” he queried. When contacted on the allegation, spokesperson of Bello’s campaign organisation, Yusuf Suleman, said there was never a time that his principal spoke in bad light against any of his opponents. “No way will my principal descend so low to a level of engaging in politics of blackmail. The allegation is untrue and unfounded,” he said.
