Niger State Government Partner WAEC, JAMB, NECO and NABTEB to Transform Education ….Announces new Resumption Date for Schools in the State Niger State Government has shifted the resumption date for Primary and Secondary Schools in the state from the September 22 to October 10. Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu announced this at Government House, Minna, when he received a delegation of JAMB, NECO, WAEC and NABTEB, who were in the state capital for the 2nd technical meeting of 2014 admission into tertiary institutions in the country. Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu stated that the postponement was for the pupils and students to join in celebrating the forthcoming Eid-el Kabir Festival. The Governor reiterated the commitment of his administration towards the provision of sound education to the students adding that the state government would start the distribution of school uniform to students after resumption. Governor Aliyu acknowledged the efforts of the examination bodies in conducting examinations for final year students and urged the state Ministry of Education to evolve measures to check ‘Miracle Centers’ to reduce exam malpractices. He also appreciated the introduction of Computer Based Test (CBT) system by JAMB and pledged to establish 12 centers in the state adding that government would partner with WAEC to train teachers as examiners. Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Professor Dibu Ojerinde commended the state governor for according priority to education, the establishment of university of education, and assured of the readiness of his organization to start admitting candidates into the university beginning from this year’s academic calendar.
