Niger State to Benefit from GAVI Alliance $600Million Polio Intervention Fund in Nigeria. Niger State Government says it would continue to accord top priority to immunization in order to rid the state of Polio and other childhood killer diseases. The Deputy Governor and Chairman Taskforce, Committee on Polio Eradication, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto stated this in an interview shortly after the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency and GAVI Alliance meeting in Abuja. Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto said GAVI Alliance was an organization aimed at assisting the country in the fight against polio adding that, so far, the organization had committed $600Million for the execution of routine immunization against polio in the country. The Deputy Governor disclosed that Niger and Kano States have been picked by the GAVI Alliance to benefit from the funds due to their proactiveness nature in the fight against polio. He said they were able to rob minds with the organization and had disclosed to them their challenges in the fight against polio which they promised to assist and would be willing to introduce another vaccine in the country. Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto therefore assured of the state government’s readiness to do more in that direction.
