Nigeria, My Country @53. It is my sincere pleasure to wish you all a happy and resounding independence day celebration. I wish to let you know that @ 53, we have not done so well neither have we performed so badly. In as much as the expectations are so high, it is important to note that the sustenance of our Nations democracy has never being an easy task. Although we most times go contrary to our salient democratic tenets, it is also important to observe the respect we have offered to it and can not afford to say just like the Kenyans said once upon a time that "It is not yet UHURU". As we celebrate today, I plead with all well meaning Nigerians, to throw away our diverse political and cultural divides, put hands on deck and rejuvenate our Nation, in other to bring back the much needed cohesion and its lost laurels. Let us learn to stop celebrating Failures more than Victory. Let us learn to advice and encourage our leaders at all times. Let us also learn to objectively criticise our leaders, hence it has been noted that "leadership without criticism is like a political party without members". I do not wish to join issues with those who believe that Nigeria has failed as a country. This is because, Nigeria has survived a civil war which could have ended its existence as a Nation but never did. Nigeria has also survived militancy and other social ills and did not sink as a Nation. I still make bold to say that Boko Haram, ASUU Strike and many other wrongs will not outlive Nigeria. So therefore, the Fight against Boko Haram should at this point take a different dimension. The fight should not be allowed only in the hands of the men of the armed forces. Like I have always said, "this is the time when our men of the forces need greater and greater forces to succeed". They at this time need prayers, vital information, financial and moral support to enable them carry out their duty. Indeed, the battle is now a holistic battle. I pass this Independence day message with tears and joy. Sending condolence messages to all those that suffered the pre-independence "Boko Haramic" attack, the Niger State boat mishap and various killings in various places, and in the joyous aspect, remind us of our recent victory at the African Cup of Nations and other places where we have as individuals and as a Nation made progresses. May God continue to bless our President, GoodLuck Ebele Jonathan, our 36 state Governors, senate members, house of representative members, house of assembly members, commissioners and our numerous leaders in different places. May God always make them to remember that there can be no leader without a follower and as such give them the knowledge to lead the followers with love, peace, dignity and unity. Once again, I wish us all a happy, and fruitful independence day celebration. I pray God to help us to always continue to build a Nation where peace and justice shall reign. Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria my Country! Long Live Imo My State! Long Live Akokwa Nation My Home! COMR. C. G. Samuel (Aka Ojukwu)
