Nigeria and Ethnic & Religious Sentiment - Aka Ikenga, the - TopicsExpress

Nigeria and Ethnic & Religious Sentiment - Aka Ikenga, the social-cultural organisation of the Igbo tribe kicked against the call for the sack of the Aviation Minister – Stella Oduah over air disaster. This reminds me of the religious sentiments brought in when the plot to impeach Dimeji Bankole as the Speaker of the House thickened. Bankole was crying wolves and was appealing to the sentiments of Nigerians by saying he was the only Muslim among the first 4 leaders of the country as it was then, now they wanted to remove him. Even with the recent ailment of Taraba state governor Danbaba Suntai, we also brought in religious sentiments by saying a Christian governor is to be removed in favour of a Muslim Deputy Governor. Nothing is being considered on the basis of merit in this country, it’s based either on religious or ethnic colouration. Niger/Delta militants are already threatening that if Jonathan doesnt make it as the President in 2015, they will blow up the entire country. This will definitely be the result when people who are completely different in culture and orientation are brought together as one. I believe in one Nigeria but on the basis of con-federalism, the issues that should connect us together as a country are: 1.) Defence/Military 2.) Currency 3.) Foreign policy
