Nigeria will not defend its 2013 African Cup of Nations title in January 2015 after the Super Eagles were held to a 2-2 draw by the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo on Wednesday, and thus failing to beat Congo Brazzaville to the second qualification spot of Group A. Stephen Keshi’s team finished third in Group A of the qualifying tables with eight points which was also not even enough to guarantee the team the best losers’ spot, a feat achieved by Congo DR. So Nigeria are now the deposed African champions, unable to play at the second AFCON to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea after they failed to qualify for the finals co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in 2012. What is your opinion about the outcome of Wednesday’s game and what do you think is the way forward after the disapointment of crashing out of the 2015 African Cup of Nations? Do you think Stephen Keshi should continue his job as the Eagles coach? Give reasons for your stance. How about the playing personnel? Which player(s) do you feel deserve to continue playing for the national team and who should perhaps call time on their international careers?
