Nigerian courts have repeatedly delivered judgments to the effect - TopicsExpress

Nigerian courts have repeatedly delivered judgments to the effect that women are entitled to a share of their fathers property. It doesnt matter whether or not they are married out of their homes. Neither custom nor practice can prevent a woman from inheriting or having a share of her fathers property during her singleship and after she is married. What belongs to men from their fathers inheritance, equally belongs to their females counterparts. These rights of women inheritance and share over their fatherss property needed to be jealously protected and developed. Women therefore are encouraged to stand for their constitutional rights to take what belongs to them from their fathers inheritance whether or not they are married. It is high time my fellow men reoriented themselves that gone are the days when we intimidated and discriminated against women from participating in the share of their fathers assets on d ludicrous ground of being classified as female children of th family. Courts now frown at such assumption as they dont waste time in giving judgments in favour of any discriminated female child whose right of inheritance is being threatened by men of d family.
