Nigerian defender Azubuike Egwuekwe has vehemently denied reports in the media that he had signed for Hapoel Tel Aviv from Nigeria Premier League club Warri Wolves. Hapoel, had announced on its website that they have signed the Nigeria international and handed him a jersey number 3, but Egwuekwe insists he is yet to even enter into contract negotiations with the Israeli outfit. “Nigerian Egwuekwe Azubuike landed in Israel in the morning and signed after passing medical tests earlier this week,” Hapoel Tel Aviv claimed on their website. The 25-year-old towering defender, who had earlier linked with a move to two English clubs, Watford and West Ham which did not fall through, said he is still in shock with congratulatory messages pouring him from Nigeria via his social media. He stated that he earlier intended to meet with Israeli club representatives for talks over details of their offers, but currently discouraged to continue with the transfer due to the insincerity of the club. “I’ve not signed any contract with any club in Isreal. I just arrived Isreal yesterday and We were going to have talks with them (club) after our training today,” Egwuekwe told Radio Nigeria. “If they are not saying something good that is going to benefit. Then, I will decide to return to Nigeria. “What I did yesterday was that I just trained 20mins with the team and after they took me to the hotel and I called my national teammate to come and take me out. “I started hearing news all over Nigeria that I’ve sign for Hapoel Tel Aviv. And was telling me congrat and I said no, I’ve not signed for anybody. I was even surprise when people were sending me congratulation messages for my new club on facebook. “I have not signed for any club and for now I’m still a Warri Wolves player. Maybe after today or tomorrow with whatever discussion have, then I can announce to the press that I’ve signed for the club. “For now nothing is going, the way things are going, I’m not sure I’m going to continue with them. The way am looking at it they are not sincere and serious about what they are doing. “All those news are lies. I will not liar. I will never like to lie or do such a thing in my career. They only just asked me to train for 20mins me to check if I had injury on my leg. And when I returned to the hotel and open my facebook, my friends starting telling me Congrats. “My club even are even angry with me that why will I go and sign without informing them. I told them that I did not sign anything. But nobody is going to believe me,” he concluded.
