Nigerians, Beware Of The Gimba Kakandas Of This World! Just imagine if Tega Sampson alias Fejiro Oliver had accepted the offer of the SSG of Niger State to send money into his account, imagine if they have his account details, imagine what people like Gimba Kakanda will be saying, just imagine. Gimba, you call yourself an activist, liberal writer and social critic, yet you are everything but fair in judgment. You used derogatory words to describe an innocent man for daring to expose the dirty dealings of your ugly and corrupt state governor; you blamed him for being persecuted. You say he should not have agreed to meet with the SSG but failed to acknowledge the peculiar circumstances that led to him agreeing to meet with him and that the meeting was not at his instance. Despite the disclosure that Fejiro was to meet with the SSG in company of two other people, not in a seclusive place but in an open place in Maitama, Abuja, you still maintain that he went there for nothing else but greed. Gimba Kakanda, you are a terrifying hypocrite. You said he was wrong to have accepted the booking of his flight by the SSG, yet, you fail to admit that in practice when you invite a journalist for a meeting it is expected that you will foot his transportation bill, I will like all my friends in the media to honestly respond to this. The only media organization that have a policy against this general practice to my knowledge is the Punch Newspaper. If there are others, I will like to know. If there are people that I am close to, it is journalists. I have an appreciable knowledge of the operation and workings of the pen profession. I asked Gimba if journalists in Daily Trust that he writes for do accept transportation fare from their hosts but the hypocrite refused to answer. I also asked him if he has never met with government officials he refused to answer. Not long ago, the self-styled saint publicly posted on his Facebook Timeline about his trip to the Villa but till date he has not disclose his mission there. Given his critical stance against the Jonathan presidency, why did he even visit the Presidential Villa for any purpose? Does that visit make him a thief? Will it be right for us to use that visit as the yardstick to declare him greedy? Can we say that he must have went there to collect money? So why is Gimba the holy one of Niger State not giving Fejiro the benefit of doubt who even rejected the suggestion to meet the SSG in Niger State? Why is he concluding base on a one sided narrative? Sometime ago, some of our popular social media critics went to Port Harcourt on the invitation of the Rivers State Government for a useless propaganda event tagged The Amaechi I know. They had their flights and hotel accommodation paid for. Voices were raised against that trip, the same Gimba Kakanda rose to their defence and tried to rationalise same. Then, Gimba did not see anything wrong in using tax payers money to foot the bills of his friends. He justified it. But today, he is crucifying Tega alias Fejiro Oliver for accepting that the SSG to his state government should pay his flight from Asaba to Abuja with tax payers money. I have asked him what makes his friends better than Fejiro, and if they have formed a cult of special social media critics but the hypocrite has not answered. You see, it is not good to apply double standard. Selective activism is worse than hypocrisy. Mr. Gimba, you have kept stoic silence on the fact that Fejiro never demanded any money, you have not uttered any word on the allegations of corruption made and the documents in his possession, you have closed your eyes to the fact that he was forcefully taken into Niger State, you have said he is not worthy of sympathy, you insist that Fejiro does not have integrity. Gimba, where is your integrity? Gimba Kakanda and folks of his cast of mind are the very polluters of the activism space in this country. People like him should be treated with suspicion; with utter contempt. I know some of my friends will not be happy reading this, but there is always a time to look at some people in the face and call them by their true names. I am not saying everyone must accept my version of the Fejiros saga, but I detest the attempt by some people to twist the facts to suit their primordial and egoistic sentiments. I do not normally engage people like this, but this is someone I held in high esteem condensing below acceptable limits. If there something those of us who are, claim to be or are referred to as activists need now it self-censorship.
