Night three in Apalachicola...never planned on even stopping here, - TopicsExpress

Night three in Apalachicola...never planned on even stopping here, but it has turned out to be a lot of fun. James keeps stalking the weather channel to see when we might get an opportunity to scoot on over to Carrabelle. There is a chance for tomorrow afternoon, and we will know more in the morning. Let me just say that Apalachicola is one if the friendliest little towns we have ever been in.... And the food has been outstanding! We enjoyed our visit to the local United Methodist Church this morning. It was refreshing to see such a small church (75 each Sunday) to be filled with so many young families and a large youth group. We had a delightful lunch and then a little excursion over to St. George Island to see the lighthouse. When we decided to return to the boat mid afternoon, a big thunderstorm came up as we approached the boat....James suddenly looked and me and said,Lets get outta here...both of us took off running as fast as we could back to car where we hunkered down until it passed. Finally, when we felt it was safe to get back on the boat, the tide was up so far that the boat had risen at least a foot or more which made getting me on board quite the challenge.....literally it took me at least five minutes to figure out how I could do it even with James helping. Its funny now, but the boat started pulling away from the dock and I was half on and half off....James is screaming for me to go ahead and something because soon I was going to be split in half and tumble in the water below... Dont ask me how, but I dove in the boat head first just in the nick of time before I would fall in the crack and plunge in the water below. I was really drenched by now, and James was dying laughing and said he wished he had a video. Have I mentioned yet that we find all of this FUN? What a time we have had in little ole Apalachicola! From our arrival immediately Friday after digging ourselves out from running aground, engine and generator issues, our epic car rental, the laundromat in the hood, making some new friends from Switzerland, the crack heads, eating some mighty fine oysters, freaking out in a storm and seeking refuge in a Ford Escort.... Now, doesnt that sound like a good time? Tomorrow, the adventure continues!
