Night yall...I miss you all. I have not forgotten the post every night, just re-adjusting and busy. I so miss my study time and posting. Maybe soon, things are better for sure. Left home at 11:00am for the first dr. appointment yesterday morning and got home from the last one at 5:00pm. Yes we were give out! I thought I would share one of the conversations that I found to be a gem, especially since it was the day to vote, from the eye dr., Dr. Chen. Margie complemented him on three paintings, so we thought, in the exam room. He informed us they were not painted but made from rubies, sapphires, jade and several other gem stones. He explained, he had been born in China and as a young boy his family(s) had moved on to Burma. The gem cutters there would just throw the little pieces on the floor because they were to little to use in jewelry, plus gems were very plentiful in those days. So as a little boy he had fallen in love with the way they shined and he began to collect them. He went on to become a dr. in Burma. His grandfather wanted to come to America, and was granted permission. The grandfather arrived in San Francisco, California, was quarantined, went through all the rules and paper work of becoming a citizen but was denied and returned to Burma, as Dr. Chen said, on a slow, 3 week trip, back to Burma, because of some kinda paperwork glitch. Later in years, still a young man himself, Dr. Chen wanted to come to America because he was fed up with the dictatorship, by now the government had taken all their belongings. The government granted him the right to leave, with the requirement of serving as a dr. for one year, free of pay and to buy his own ticket, one way! He agreed. When he left the country and his family he had to leave all his belongings with only one $25.00 travelers check. He made it to San Francisco, passed through the citizenship requirements and his dr. boards. After his arrival folks from a church helped him get on his feet. He said to us, you know people in America are very giving, even now that were are in a different time, we still, as a country, help others. Dr. Chen told us that is why he gives back and helps in the community. He most certainly does not agree with just coming into this country and getting a free pass. As he told us, even his own grandfather was deported. He tapped his I voted sticker and went on to say what a privilege it is to be able to vote. After much talk about the election and politics we went back to the art on his wall. The, what we thought were paintings, were actually flowers and landscape made from the tiny gems he had collected from his youth. Some of his friends knew he loved art and had them made for him. The fourth piece of art, he went on to explain, was made of strands of gold threads. It was of a Buddhist temple. This temple was built by the followers of Buddhism, as it is their belief that life is a cycle and to get to the next world you have to do good deeds, Karma. This temple is built of gold bricks, they got so hot the men had to build it at night. Every so often it is re-plated with gold leaf, still done in the night. We then talked about religion. He said he was glad he has redemption and saved by grace, not of works himself. EPHESIANS 2:8-10(NIV)...For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith---and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of GOD---not by your works, so that no one can boast. For we are GODS workmanship, created in CHRIST JESUS to do good works, which GOD prepared in advance for us to do. GODS wonderful grace has saved us through our obedient faith to do HIS good works. GOD has joined grace, faith, and works together in HIS plan for salvation. We do not save ourselves by works, GOD saves us. Before GOD saved us, we were dead, completely cut off from God, and under the devils control. EPHESIANS 2:1-2(NIV)...As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. GODS grace brought us from death to life. Yet, grace alone does not save us. The salvation that comes to us by grace comes through our faith. We must have faith to receive GODS gracious offer of salvation. GOD expects us to trust in and act on HIS Word, believe. THY will be done, Amen. Rest well.
