Night yall...another day to praise the LORD and be thankful. Had to take Alisha, my daughter-n-law to the dr. this afternoon. As I went to pull the car closer for her I noticed a van beside the drivers side and a woman trying to unload an older woman. The van was from an assisted living home. I did not want to disturb the transfer from the car to the wheelchair so I went to the passenger side to put my stuff into the car. It took a while so I walked around to the back of my car and was waiting. The little old lady noticed me and said, this lady wants to get by. I told them it was ok as I was in no hurry. The little lady asked me my name and reached and got me by the hand, immediately I felt the softness of her little hand. I told her my name and then I asked her name. She started talking about her Mama and asked me if I saw her baby? Her baby was a snowman stuffed toy. My heart was just broken. The attendant told me the little ladies name and I immediately recognized it as our old neighbor. They have been gone for a long time and I did not recognize her. Made me even sadder. By now I have recognized she had Alzheimers. This whole time she never let my hand go and just kept talking about the baby and her Mama. The attendant finally said she must have recognized me? Maybe so, maybe not. I think not. Finally I said you better get inside out of this hot sun and the attendant told me I would have to let her hand go as this little lady would not turn me loose or quit talking to me. I did ease my hand out of hers and said good by. I got in my car and had a little cry thinking how fortunate and blessed we are, as a family. With the health issues our family is dealing with, at least Alzheimers Disease is not one of them and Margie knows us. Do you ever hear someone say thank the LORD or I am blessed and think how easy they say those words, I wonder if something bad happened to them if they would be so quick to say it and mean it? I did think about that this evening, because I do mean it! I can be thankful always, because I know that GOD loves me. JESUS proved it by dying on the cross for me. HE forgives me. HEs always with me. But how can I do it? By believing and having faith, because JESUS has told us that HE is in control of everything. HE promises to work all things out for our good. Even when the bad things happens, JESUS uses it for something good. EPHESIANS 5:20(NIV)...always give thanks to GOD the FATHER for everything, in the name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. I watched a tv program once about mountain climbers. At the bottom the group was so upbeat, so ready for any challenge, no load was to heavy. Half way up the mountain the weather turned bad and the they had to stay an extra day in their tents waiting on the wind to stop blowing so hard. The day following they were on their way and by the next morning clouds had set in and covered the top of the mountain. With the weather getting worse everyday and not seeing the top the climbers got discouraged and not quite so optimistic about reaching the top. They complained about the weight of the packs, food was not so good and they were cold and tired. But they climbed on. As they reached the peak the climbers behind could not see the front climbers, but, they could hear the shouts of happiness, praises and cries of achievement. This gave the rest of the climbers hope! When asked what made them not give up completely and push on one of the climbers said, he focused on his reward of reaching the top. So let us be like the climber and focus on GODS Word and HIS promises and HE will give us a thankful heart. And great will be our reward, to spend eternity with HIM. The scripture tells us in DEUTERONOMY 11:18(NIV)...Fix these words of MINE in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. LORD tonight we give our thanks for the blessing of having a helper watching over Margie. We ask for Alisha to have an easy surgery tomorrow and all things to go well and that YOU give peace of mind and comfort to Margie. Thank YOU LORD for hearing our prayers. THY will be done, Amen. Rest well.
