Nik Beat - Poet, Songwriter, Artist - funeral was yesterday and it was an overwhelmingly emotional day for me. Everybody in the Church had a connection to Nik and so it was a very loving tribute that was fully authentic and moving in its intensity. The service, the reception, and the gathering at a restaurant across from where he lived in the Beaches found many people remembering Nik and sharing stories of his generosity, support for poets and musicians and anecdotes of the way he lived his life. There were tears and laughter, poetry and song - just the way Nik would have liked it. The day and evening was beautiful tribute to one of the icons of the Toronto poetry scene. Love ya, Nik.
