Nine-Eleven On September eleventh, two thousand and one, things fell apart; two commercial airplanes hijacked by terrorists were flown into the Twin Towers in New York. The sweet sense of calmness was disrupted as the Twin Towers collapsed under a cloud of smoke and dust. The loud, urgent wail of sirens from emergency rescue vehicles was muffled by the raw images of thousands of lives lost that day, as humanity’s capacity to overcome horror marched in nasty unison with its capacity to commit terror. And we the terrified survivors of this day resolved from deep within our mournful souls to unite against the recurrence of such a catastrophe. May we never forget.
