Nine miles this morning, down Foothill to Gould and back. Water heater repair man was coming at 8:00, so I left the house at 5:00 AM to make sure I was comfortably back. First half of run, sky was pitch black and road was deserted. Foothill is way prettier without cars. Passed a guy lying face down on the sidewalk and asked him if he was OK. Heard several people laugh and realized there were two dozen bodies lying on the sidewalk. Doing push-ups. Boot camp. Sky lightened up on the way back but a marine layer had moved in so there was no sun. Much cooler. Ran into old friend out for a walk half mile from home. At 7:30 AM. Small world. Got home, changed, and made coffee. Plumber was hour and a half late. No matter. The morning was perfect regardless.
