Nine years ago today I woke up as a father for the first time. Technically, my son was born on September 14 at 10:26 pm. We had started the day with my wife having her labor induced at about 8:00 am. Throughout the day, her labor progressed, but she just was not dilating the way she should. At about 10 pm the doctor came in because he was concerned about the babys heart rate and decided he was going to do an emergency C-section. about 25 minutes later out comes this small, frail looking, semi smurfish (blue) baby boy that was not crying yet. My mother in law, who is an LPN, was in the delivery room with us had a hand on my shoulder and said Its ok. See the nurse counting the pulse? As soon as he started to cry, my heart started to beat again. I cant imagine my life without him, or his little brother.
