Ningi (near Bribie Island) – bushfire as at 6pm. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews have completed backburning operations and successfully contained the bushfire burning near Bestmann Road, Ningi. The fire, which broke out yesterday afternoon, is approximately 500 hectares in size. There is no threat to homes and five crews will remain on scene overnight to monitor the fire. The smoke haze over Brisbane has decreased considerably, however residents are still advised to close doors and windows if required and to keep medication on hand if suffering from a respiratory illness. If residents feel their property has come under threat, they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Regards,
