Nisar Ahmed Khuhro suspends 11 education officials LARKANA: Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Monday suspended 11 officials of education department and accounts department among DEO elementary Larkana and three officers for their alleged involvement in fake job orders and corruption of millions of rupees. According to details, 19 grade officer DEO Elementary Gulsher Ahmed Soomro, DO Head Quarter Naseeban Katpur, 19 grade officer Nazir Jatoi, Assistant Bashir Ahmed Abbasi, Assistant Lal Dino Kalhoro, Assistant Accounts Officer Mumtaz Khaskheli, Assistant Muhammad Yaqoob Memon, Senior Clerk Rafique Jatoi, Assistant Mukhtiar Soomro, Senior Clerk Maqsood Ahmed and others on issuing fake appointment orders, forgery in record, being involved in corruption and embezzlement of millions of rupees. He also directed investigation against them. Meanwhile, Senior Minister for Education Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that it needed the modal study of embankments of River Indus but due to lack of resources the 800 kilometer long dyke of River Indus from Guddu to Kotri could not be raised and stone pitched. He expressed these views while talking to media men during his visit to Akil Aghani Loop Bund. He further said that all embankments of river Indus were intact and strong enough to face challenges, the credit of which goes to the PPP government that spent huge funds to strengthen the embankments of River Indus. He said that relief camps and medical camps had been established for the flood affected people and efforts were underway to shift the stranded people to safer places where all basic facilities and medical help were available. In an answer to a question about the unavailability of snake bite vaccines at medical camps and in Larkana district he said that district administration had demanded the anti snake vaccines for medical camps which would be soon provided to them. He also visited the vulnerable dykes and directed concerned local authorities of irrigation department Larkana to ensure the monitoring of sensitive dykes of River Indus in order to avoid any untoward incident. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro viewed that all available resources should be utilized for the protection of sensitive embankments of River Indus, adding, that the performance of irrigation officials during the super flood in 2010 was commendable. He directed SE irrigation to make all required machinery and flood fighting material available for early action, adding, that strict action would be taken against negligent officials of irrigation department. SE Irrigation Abdul Rehman Nizamani briefed the minister on the current situation and said that water had receded to 310000 cusecs from 454000 cusecs and the officials would continue their work. Deputy Commissioner Larkana Umer Farooque Bulo, SE Irrigation Department Amjad Pervaiz Dawach, and other concerned officials were present. Earlier, the senior provincial minister distributed clothes and Eid gifts among the deserving poor people at Circuit House Larkana. Petition filed against concerned officials for closure of schools Resident of Larkana city, Qadir Bux Bhati, filed a constitutional petition in Sindh High Court circuit Bench Larkana against the regional director education department Larkana, deputy commissioner Larkana and others for the closure of government schools and suspension of educational activities in Larkana. The court issued notices to 16 respondents to appear before the court on 28th August 2013. The petitioner maintained that due to the ongoing clash between the district administration and elected office bearers of teachers association, the teachers of different government higher secondary schools and high schools were using students to protest, block roads and misusing them to support one of their colleagues. He said in his petition that the education of students in Larkana was suffering because of the above mentioned activities. Sindh High Court circuit bench Larkana issued the notices to 16 respondents, including regional director higher secondary schools Larkana, DEO Larkana, DEO secondary, principal government pilot higher secondary school, deputy commissioner Larkana, SSP Larkana, commissioner Larkana, secretary education and others, and directed them to appear before the court on 28th August 2013.
