Nisha, Hello, my name is Melissa Mack. I’m the nightside executive producer at 11Alive News. I just got off the phone with another relative of Martasia Gaston. I want you to know what happened, and what I’m doing to rectify the situation. Our reporter received that photo in an email sent from the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office. Here’s what I’ve done, so far, to fix the situation: Ø I’ve deleted the photo from our system, so that it cannot be used again Ø I immediately removed the online story after hearing from a relative. We’ve rewritten it to show only the man with the mugshot whowas arrested. The story mentions Cordero Woody, but by name only. Here is the new version:11alive/news/article/319126/40/Pepper-spray-bandits-identified Ø My reporter reached out to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office to alert them of the error, and figure out how they plan to rectify the situation Ø I alerted the entire station to the issue to make sure there’s no possible way the photograph will end up online or on-air ever again My reporter is going to call Rockdale County again in the morning.
