Niz Khan updated the description: Please help us find a home for Rem our amazing handstanding dog who walks on two legs, he is very sweet natured and needs a home. Rem is a gentle and affectionate character and would make the easiest dog to look after. He came to the sanctuary with his mum, Maggie and brothers, Jekyll and Mack. Gemma rescued them from their owner who they were all terrified of. Unfortunately, the effects of Rem’s neglect and malnutrition when he was a puppy seem to have had a devastating and degenerative effect on his bone development. His back legs are severely bowed and he struggles to walk or even stand for long periods of time. Neither of his two brothers suffer from this condition, but the only explanation that we have why Rem is like this is that he was almost starved to death as a puppy, thereby missing out on all the vital vitamins that a growing boy needs. He can still walk though and has adapted very well to his condition, often even doing a handstand by lifting his back legs up and walking on just his two front ones. It’s amazing to see and we will try and post a video to show just how clever our Rem is! Rem has lived at the sanctuary since he was a puppy and really deserves a loving home to call his own. Due to his hind legs, he won’t want to go out for walks but loves to sit outside so will require a good sized garden to relax in. He is the least demanding dog we have; he never gets in fights and gets along with anyone. He can be nervous at first but will eventually warm to new people. He always gets up to greet visitors at the sanctuary, even if it is to bark at them nervously. He’s just being a good guard dog and is all talk though and after a quick sniff of your hand, he quickly warms up and is a very friendly dog. Rem as and added bonus is continent as well unlike a lot of disabled dogs.
