Nkandla report damages Zuma The damning conclusions of the Public Protector on the financing of the Presidents homestead will upset the balance of power within the ruling party The findings of an official probe that President Jacob Zuma personally benefited from a R246 million (US$22.5 mn.) refurbishment of his Nkandla homestead will weaken his position and cost the governing African National Congress votes in the national elections on 7 May. The timing of the report – released on 19 March – means that its probably too close to the elections for Zumas opponents within the ANC to move against him now.
