No 8 on the list of my favourite albums of the year is Rowland S Howards The six strings that drew blood. While of course not really a new album as such (hes sadly no longer with us), Howard has been long overdue a retrospective. This record picks the best of his work with The Boys Next Door, The Birthday Party, Crime & The City Solution and These Immortal Souls as well as his two amazing solo records. Whilst not as well known and as lauded as his Birthday Party contemporaries this double album collection shows a real talent who deserved to be more well recognised. If you not heard him before its really worth an investment.
