No, I will not post photos of them! Here I am in Southern California, in wealthy Orange County, in one of the rich suburbs of Los Angeles. Yet there are so many homeless people at intersections, with their scratchy cardboard signs with crude writing, declaring their need and their context---a hungry family, an incapacitated veteran, a diabetic needing medicine. One struggles to know what is legitimate and what is a scam. To never give whether it is food, money, friendship or a smile, is to be hard-hearted and cold. To always give is to be manipulated by some guilt or lack of discernment on our part. To be led by the Spirit is difficult, tedious and costs time and resource. Ive often wondered that Jesus fed the 5,000 for lunch, but what did he do for supper?
