No Information Provided For Public Hearing I was trying to be a - TopicsExpress

No Information Provided For Public Hearing I was trying to be a good citizen and inform myself about the COB public hearings on Monday, and I was surprised when I pulled up the first public hearing on dissolving the Public Development Authority, and found.. nothing.. nada.. zip. This is an issue that is complex, has a history, and has political overtones. It is no secret that the Mayor has been gunning for the PDA, created by the prior administration, and submitted a budget that left the PDA without funding, putting the burden on a city council reluctant to buck the administration. I think it is unacceptable for the public to be provided no information on the proposed basis dissolving this program, particularly when the Mayor and her staff had the time to provide the council with information on the Downtown Implementation Strategy, which will replace the PDA in the Old Town. My take on the little I know is that the PDA envisioned a private/public partnership, while what the Mayor has in mind is more of public subsidy for private business. Perhaps I am incorrect, but really, how would I know on the basis of the information I have not been provided?
