No #PalmOil labels are illegal and could have a negative knock-on effect on consumer health and on the environment. As Belgian agronomist Pierre Bois d’Enghien explained in LEcho, “it must be made clear to consumers that without palm oil would also mean that the product will be manufactured using other vegetable oil, probably not certified for sustainability, or maybe with carcinogens containing trans fatty acids (that do not exist in palm oil). This unfortunately still constitutes a secondary impact of a policy that says environmentalist and which is dangerously lacking in science.”
