No Tax For Tracks !!!!!! On March 6, 2014 Clearwater City Council Passed a Resolution Endorsing Greenlight Pinellas after citizens Show Up to Oppose Following Clearwater Mayor Cretokoss remarks as shown in the video above, the Council took the vote to endorse Greenlight Pinellas, a $2.3 BILLION plan calling for a massive 14% sales tax rate increase. Cities across Pinellas County are being asked by PSTA one by one to endorse Greenlight Pinellas, the largest transit tax increase in the history of Pinellas County. This action by PSTA seeks to involve every City Council in influencing the voters at large that the entire county is behind the effort. If passed in November, PSTA will be contracting and supervising the construction of a light rail system. In calling for the vote, Mayor Cretekos said, PSTA, its going to be in your court now. Youre asking a lot of people to step up for you. You are going to have to be a very good steward.... No Tax For Tracks members have attended almost every PSTA meeting for the last three years as they crafted their referendum campaign. We expect our elected officials who are being asked by PSTA to formally endorse Greenlight by resolution to be as serious about evaluating PSTA management as we have been. There are serious concerns with the ability of PSTA to manage the building of a rail system when they cannot contract a simple parking lot install with no moving parts without hostility and possible litigation during and after the completion of the project. Pepper Contracting, Inc. Executive V.P. And Operations Manager Mr. Ebbers comments describe his companys experience installing four acres of concrete for PSTA main parking lot over the course of 18 months. This bitter conflict between PSTA and one of the most experienced government contractors serves as a harbinger of the scope of risk and liability that PSTAs inexperience brings to the citizens of Pinellas County.
