No cartoon tonight, Facebook acting up. Last week WH Press Secretary Jay Carney again asserted the IRS was a phony scandal: “What some in Congress have failed to do, despite many attempts, is to provide any evidence, because there is none, that that activity was in any way known by or directed by the White House or was even PARTISAN OR POLITICAL.” This from NPR, yes Jay NPR, a day EARLIER: “A House Ways and Means Committee staff analysis of the applications of 111 conservative and progressive groups applying for tax exempt status found conservative applicants faced ‘more questions, more denials, more delays,’ says committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich. That is, when the IRS sent groups letters asking for further information, conservative groups were asked more questions — on average, THREE times more. ALL of the groups with ‘progressive’ in their name were ultimately approved, while only 46 percent of conservative groups won approval.” Nothing “partisan or political” here. Every day Jay Carney makes Baghdad Bob proud!
