No day at Back to the Wild could ever be considered mundane or routine. However, even on our scale of excitement, yesterday was a crazy day! After a morning program (which Ill post about in a moment) Melissa Dodge, Samantha Villa, and myself (Heather Yount) hopped in our van and headed to...Cedar Point! A journalist with the Morning Journal, Rick Payerchin, contacted Mona earlier in the week to extend an invite to her to try out the new rides at Cedar Point before the park was open to the general public. Our esteemed director doesnt blink at the thought of chasing a dangerous wild animal through a marsh, nor does she tremble when dodging razor sharp, dangerous talons while trying to treat an uncooperative bald eagle. However, the thought of riding a roller coaster had her quickly offering up her staff in her place. As sacrificial lambs, we couldnt have been more excited! After several weeks of back to back programs and hours upon hours of caring for all of the new spring patients at Back to the Wild, we could use a little relaxation...if you could call hurtling through the air on a spinning bald eagle relaxation (which we definitely do!). Funny...were usually catching bald eagles, not riding them! What a blast! A big thanks to Mr. Payerchin for inviting us and to our wonderful director for giving us this amazing opportunity!
