No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, - TopicsExpress

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11 The author of Hebrews spends a considerable time discussing and explaining discipline. The final comparison is that just as a father disciplines his child, so does God discipline us. We dont like the discipline when young, as it hurts. Nevertheless, the good child still respects and loves his father for caring enough to discipline. So, how much greater should our love and respect for God be that He disciplines us as His children! Lord, make me mindful that Your reproach and rebukes are for my good that I may better prepare myself to be Yours. Keep me mindful that each setback is one designed by You; allowed by You; and ordained by You. While I might choose a different result from my efforts, You have seen that I might have what is right and fitting, according to Your holy will. I pray that the harvest of righteousness and peace may pour forth upon those whose life includes Gods discipline. May we all be trained up such that we are pleasing to Him, worthy to bring Him honor and glory, and above all else, made to love Him completely as He loves us. Amen
