No fewer than 10 Southern Kaduna residents were killed yesterday by some gunmen at Addu village in Kaura Local Government Area. National Mirror learnt that the gunmen stormed the village in the early hours of the day and attacked the victims. The Kaduna State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Aminu Lawan confirmed the incident. He said some suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident. A resident, who is the National President of Attakar Students Association, Raphael Soja, told journalists that eight bodies had been recovered. Soja said: “For now, we have retrieved eight bodies and still looking for the remaining two people missing. The bodies we have here are of a couple and those of their two children killed by the gunmen. “Another couple were killed, but their children were lucky. Some other little children and women were also killed. Four injured persons have been rushed to Kafanchan General Hospital for medical attention.” Meanwhile, Center for Development and Rights Advocacy (CEDRA) has condemned the killings. The rights group accused the state government and security agencies of negligence in dealing with insecurity in Southern Kaduna. In a statement signed by its spokesman, Dr. John Danfulani, CEDRA said there is a genocide agenda against the people of Southern Kaduna. He said: “On each incidence, government comes out with promises to fish out perpetuators and punish them in tandem with dictates of the law. Beyond those superficial tension cooling talks, nothing is done or heard until the next ugly incident is recorded.”
