No, lets not do this at the Fire Academy. Ladder climbs can be fun, but not using windows with glass in them. Building technology has changed significantly, with hermetically sealed windows which interfere . . . Buildings are generally taller now, and by the time one reaches the top, hes too tired to be useful! And, jumping into a net? That was never practical. It takes too many net holders, and cannot move quickly if a jumper jumps off to the side, or not far enough out from the building. As a jumper, theres plenty of risk of, say, a broken neck if one lands wrong. Who has ever practiced such escape from a building? Only a few well-filmed acrobats. This aspect of antique firefighting should remain back in the good old days!
