No longer afraid And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. Jesus was in the back part of the ship, asleep on a pillow, and they awoke Him. They said, Master do you not care if we perish? He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace be still. The wind ceased and there was a great calm. He said unto them, Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? Mark 4:37-40 There was every reason, and yet no reason to be afraid. Every reason as a man, yet no reason as being with Christ. A lot of us are crying out, Oh God will you let me perish, will you let this happen, and do you not see this disaster? He sees, but are your eyes not open to faith? For when they woke Jesus He said, Why do you fear, and told them, Have some faith. Then Jesus rebuked the wind, and told the stormy waters, Be still. He confronted the problem, rebuked it, and then brought peace to it. Jesus never had to panic, the world could not throw enough at Him. Even a mighty storm Jesus slept through, at peace with God. There are storms all over this earth, weather storms, relationship storms, and spiritual storms. Isnt it good to know our Lord can rebuke these storms, and bring calmness to what once spelled disaster. Fear is not of God, faith is. Fear is the opposite of faith, and scripture says we have not received a spirit of fear, but a spirit of adoption. Fear are for those who do not know their place in the kingdom of God. If I suffer let me suffer relying on the love and grace of God. If I go through storms let me know the peace of God that surpasses understanding. That my life might be like the tombstone that says rest in peace.
