No mas amor que el Tuyo (No greater love than Thine” N.B.: Some may have their own sharing on possible memories with this song. Reposted: RAUD, 2014 Aug 24 Sun, 8:45am No Greater Love Than Thine (No mas amor que el tuyo available on the YouTube) Translated from the original Spanish into English by Ronald Ryan Lara 2013 Jul 6 Sat, 9:37pm No greater love than Thine Oh heart divine To Thee the Filipino people render their hearts. In temples and in homes, We invoke Thee in our native tongue Without fail thou shalt reign From Appari to Jolo. For ages hast Thou awaited, Thy Empire in the Orient The Faith of the Philippines, As ardent as the sun, As firm as a rock, As immense as the ocean. Injustice can never be The master of these isles, May it be hoisted up on our mountains -- Thy heavenly sign, The gates of hell Never shall prevail. With Thy mantle, protect The noble home, Bless the Filipino Who welcomes Thee And fill the people with the highest good, Most sweet Lord. And while the arc of our traditions soars Thy heart rules In our hearts, And let Thy glory extend From Appari to Jolo. Fonsucu has included the the following information and lyrics of the song: Intérprete: Guillermo Gómez-Rivera. This is an advanced Happy Fiesta Greetings to all the people of Jolo, Sulu that once again will be celebrating the Jolo Town Fiesta in the Walled City, for the Jolo Catholic Cathedral Patron Saint, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel this July 16 as has been done every year. When, I was a kid in the late 1950s and in my high school days in 1965-1969 at the Notre Dame of Jolo Boys Department, I thought Jolo had so many fiestas in a year as the whole town celebrates with much fun, parades, cultural shows, and musical concerts in the town center at the Rizal Plaza September 8 in honor of Notre Dame Day or the Birthday of Mama Mary; and had at least one week fiesta celebration of Eid’l Fitr, after the end of Ramadhan, which included some carnival presentations, circus, mobile stage dramas every night, etc. This is not mentioning the many other “fiesta celebrations” in Jolo throughout each year. The song No más amor que el tuyo , was the familiar song I remember sang in the Jolo Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral for many years since the late 1950s. It must be possible that no Joloano Catholic in the 1950s to 1970s would not be familiar with the tune or hymn of this song. In recent years, I notice that this is still being sung by some choirs in some Catholic Cathedrals in Zamboanga City, Ozamiz City, iLigan City, etc. TRG & W – Tnx, Regards, and God bless u all; and Wassalam.
