No matter how great your teachers are (and I have had some great teachers) nothing beats learning from the horse... I have one horse in particular who has been having weekly massages for the last 6 weeks. Dont get me wrong, she has made amazing progress but Ive had this strong feeling that despite her progress there was an issue that we were missing. I looked back through my notes, searched my books and spent hours researching with my big questions being... why wont this horse yawn, why is her neck always sore and sensitive??? Well I finally put the pieces of the puzzle together. Lucky this horse is not far from me so I made a visit to go see her today. Through my research I learnt to check for pain from the hyoid and she tested positive on both sides of her jaw. So she is booked in for Saturday so I can work on releasing tension from the hyoid, and I am very confident we will see amazing results. I do apologize for the novel, but as you can probably tell, I am very excited. I am a qualified massage therapist, also studying tissue mobilization, but this is an issue not particularly mentioned in any of my course theory, this is my own research done in my own time. I hope this just shows you all the commitment level I bring to each and every horse I see.
