No matter how much you trust/care for your househelp, never loan them any money. If you do, accept the reality that it may not ever get paid back. Ive feared that this day when abuse of the poorly biased kasambahay law will come to our doorstep. Particularly that househelpers can leave at their own will without carrying the burden of paying their debts to the employer. This is actually a clear provision (privilege) our stupid lawmakers put there. I know what others might be thinking. Why loan money to people you dont trust? Well fact is, the minute you accept a maid in your house she becomes part of your household. It is only normal to trust her. Theres nothing we normal people can do with the papogi law that is kasambahay law. Either we start to live without a househelp or be extra careful being overly trusting. I feel bad for those few good maids/yayas who are being great at their work though. Lawmakers have made our lives harder by removing equal protection from that law. I hope this lesson gets to as much of my friends to protect them from future disappointment. This is not an elitist comment.
