No matter how personally intelligent and likable, well known, or armed with endorsements a candidate may be, when elected they will be caucusing and voting with the party under whose banner they campaigned. We need to establish a sanity that truly addresses the issues before us in terms of realistic science, civil rights, and social justice for all persons. Since the GOP has chosen to pander to the politically insane portion of the population, be obstructionist on almost every issue of importance, and continues to show favoritism to only the wealthiest 1% of the population, no one campaigning under that banner gets my vote this round. Democrats are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but they have done a better job of excluding sheer insanity from their ranks, are offering relevant legislation to address major issues, and keeps its focus on the average Joe and Jane with special concern for those most vulnerable. They get my vote.
