No matter the situation your relationship/marriage can work if you have two individuals willing to set their egos, pride, past and aside and compromise. Its okay to have a problem in a relationship because there is always a solution. Communicate with one another, listen to what the other person is saying, understand where they are coming from by opening your mind, stop thinking that you are always right, someone has to back down so why not the both of you its not a war so stop fighting one another! If God put you two together ask Him to lead you!
