No matter where you stand, this is worth reading, then thinking about, rather than accepting Ozs view. Ozs idea for a final settlement is really the only way to end this. But even he has succumbed to the paranoia that grips Israel. Problem is that its a state-created and state-maintained psychological situation. More violence will not solve it. Palestinians have for decades lived under much greater physical and mental pressure than Israelis. And Israelis should understand that. Its only natural that they would lash out, even knowing they will get battered. Basically, If we cant live in peace, they shouldnt be able to either. Palestinians have learned two great lessons. (1) Cooperation and acquiesence with the occupation are a dead end. Years of passivity led to more loss of land and freedom in the occupied territories. (2) Military strength is the only thing that works against Israel. It withdrew from Lebanon only because Hezbollah became strong enough that Israel had too pay a high price to stay.
