No mention of policing in Ed Milibands speech today The leader of the opposition Ed Miliband gave his final Party Conference speech before next years general election today - and made not one mention of policing. In his 60 plus minute speech, he outlined his plans for if the Labour Party can form a Government in 2015. The NHS featured heavily. He said there would be 3,000 more midwives; 5,000 more GPs, 8,000 more care workers & 20,000 more nurses during a 5 year Labour term in office. But did not refer at all to policing. Mr Miliband did tell every public sector worker that we salute your dedication. We know why you do what you do, he said. Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will be talking policing tomorrow at the Labour Party conference in Manchester between 10.30am and 12.45pm. At a policing fringe meeting at the conference this evening, she said: Home Secretary Theresa May has been good at shouting at the police, not strengthening the police. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29310512
