No mis-understanding. It must be clarified: the jealousy of God written in the Bible (in "That shall not make a representation that will look like ... in the heavens, on Earth, and beneath; because I am a jealous God") is solely a loving jealousy to keep his glory such as what is fairly due to Him -and not a wicked jealousy like extremism and mis-conception and recklessness of some humans affecting innocents fellows; for God knows human failure to abide will lead to all sorts of practices that would affect his holiness. The Bible suffered destruction in the past but could not be "gone". Furthermore, the Hebrew letters translated into the consonants "YHWH" due to the sacredness of the name of God, needs vowel(s) for sound(s) -a name. Beside, con-sonnants, "con" meaning "with", are called so since they are "dependent" on vowels to sound; while vowels meaning "sounds" or independent need not necessarily "con-sonants" for their sounds. And so, many nations obtained the name of God and with some minor substitutes and even contracted (short) forms such as the followings: Jehovah, Yahweh, Yahveh, Yéowah, even Yah or Jah, and so forth, as it suits their languages. As for the "names" like "Lord or else", used as replacements for the name of God, they are only titles, like (for example) "Milord or My Lord, Miking or My King" as in old England; or My President elsewhere.
