No movement in U.S. history has succeeded without massive numbers of people coming together in the streets to demand change. From protests to grant women the right to vote in the 1920s to the civil rights March on Washington in 1963, rallies against the Vietnam war to the current fight for marriage equality -- these movements share a common core: hundreds of thousands of passionate, dedicated activists rising up together to call for action. Thats why when world leaders come to New York City in a couple weeks for the United Nations landmark Climate Summit well be meeting them in the streets to demand action. Its going to be the worlds largest public demonstration against climate change in history...but its missing something: you. Every new report reveals a shorter timeframe for action, and every new disaster is an ominous glimpse into our future. President Obama and the EPA know this. Thats why they proposed the Clean Power Plan in June -- a landmark step forward in fighting the carbon pollution that contributes to climate change. But we know change will not come easily, especially given the current state of politics. Thats why were working overtime to mobilize like never before and hold Congressional climate change deniers accountable for standing in the way of action. The Peoples Climate March is where well draw a line in the sand and stand up for our families, our friends, our communities, and our childrens future. We will create a new sense of hope that meaningful action on climate change is not only possible, but underway. But well need a huge crowd to back up our call for action. Together, we can show the world that we want our leaders to act on the climate change solutions the EPA and other local leaders have proposed. Dont just be a witness to history -- help us shape it. Join us on September 21 to tell our leaders: the time for talk is over -- we demand action on climate change!
