No need to extend the grace period. With regard to the article “Grace period should be extended” (June 17), Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has already generously granted a three-month grace period for those who are residing and working in the Kingdom illegally. This is more than enough. Many of these overstayers have been here for 30 years or more and one has to wonder on what basis they are asking for two or three months more to rectify their residential status. If the government allowed them 30 more years it would still not be enough for them and at the end of that time they would ask for a further grace period. There is no way that a single minute more should be given to these people. July 3 is the day on which the grace period ends and on that date violators will be subject to punitive action according to the laws of the country. Those whose residential status is not in accordance with government regulations have two choices: leave the country or complete the required formalities by July 3. No more extensions.
