No new information from the Hall Road fire I am pretty certain, that has to be a good thing, but Ill paste up what is on the RFS website as their major fire update. - Stephen Watch and Act - Hall Road Fire, Balmoral Village (Southern Highlands / Wollondilly) 20/10/13 17:05 Posted: 20/10/2013 Over 270 firefighters continue to work on a fire burning near the villages of Alpine, Aylmerton, Balmoral, Yanderra, Bargo, Pheasants Nest, Wilton, Hill Top and Yerrinbool in the Southern Highlands. Current Situation This fire has burnt over 12,000ha and remains uncontained. The alert status currently is Watch and Act. Under forecasted north-westerly winds there is a potential threat of containment lines being breached and threatening the townships of Alpine, Aylmerton, Hill Top, Yerrinbool and Bargo. NSW Police are door knocking residents in Yerrinbool with information. Residents are advised that if you and your property are not prepared for the onset of fire you should relocate now. People are advised to seek accommodation with family and friends as this will be the most comfortable option. Given the current weather residents should head south towards Mittagong. Where conditions allow crews will continue backburning to strengthening containment lines. A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Illawarra/Shoalhaven area until further notice. Advice Residents in the vicinity of this fire are reminded to remain vigilent and monitor the situation closely as conditions will be changing frequently throughout the day. Check your Bush Fire Survival Plan and prepare for a bush fire in your area. If your plan is to leave, or you are not prepared, leave early. Specifically designed, constructed or modified homes, prepared to the highest level, may provide safety. Advice (Illawarra residents) While there is no threat to properties in the Illawarra at this time, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and monitor the situation throughout the day. Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan and prepare yourself for the potential of a bush fire in your area. Community Safety volunteers from the Illawarra will be travelling around communities today providing information to residents about the current situation and what they can do to prepare.
