No offence intended towards anyone: I know that sometimes life - TopicsExpress

No offence intended towards anyone: I know that sometimes life happens But I see so many people posting that they have to relocate their family pet for whatever reasons. I see people asking for rehoming fees for no real apparent reasons. Yes, some people ask for a rehoming fee because they are including shots, neuter or spaying, medications, vet visits, food, I have even seen a rehoming fee for the road trip it took to travel to the new home. I just wish that future pet owners would consider the life changes that might happen in their life. A little hindsight would help! Babies come along, people move and people loose their jobs. Please dont consider adopting a pet if you are young, dont have a job, are planning on having children someday and dont think that you want to deal with both a pet and children. Children are a handful and so are pets. Please dont adopt a pet if you are renting a place and this is not your permanent residence, most landlords dont allow pets. Please dont adopt a pet if you can not afford a pet. They will need to be fed and will need and want toys, they will most likely need a vet and medical treatment at some point or another. Please dont adopt a dog if you dont have a fenced in yard. How would you like to be chained to a tree to potty. Your neighbors will not appreciate your dog running the neighborhood potting in their yards either. Before you adopt another pet consider the pets you might already have. Many pets are territorial and will act out when you bring in another pet, always make sure that you can have a trial run of at least a week or two. I ask pet owners to please not ask for rehoming fees because you want a couple of dollars in your pocket, or that you feel that someone should pay you something for your pet. If you truly care and love your pet you can find them a wonderful forever home without charging someone a rehoming fee. Instead ask that they pay their vet a certain amount of money up-front like a credit for future medical cost or require that they pay their vet up-front for spaying or nurturing. Im sorry this is long, but people need to think before adopting a pet or think before rehoming their loved family pet. Please if anyone has anymore advice to either a pet owner needing to rehome their pet OR someone who is thinking about adopting a pet please let us all hear from you!
