No one has to teach us to worry. It seems that it comes - TopicsExpress

No one has to teach us to worry. It seems that it comes naturally. The truth is very few things we worry about actually happen. Of course it is not wrong to plan ahead. It is wise for us to use sound judgment about the eventualities of life. It is unwise to allow worry to occupy too much of your time and life. The Apostle Paul said “DON’T WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING; INSTEAD, PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING.” Philipians 4:6 NLT) Look at that verse carefully. Paul is showing us that worry is the opposite of praying. He is telling us that the moment a worry crosses our mind we should begin to pray. Synonyms for the word “worry” are fret, be irritated, brood, dwell, preoccupy, distress, trouble, anguish, torment and anxiety. The Lord Jesus does not want His children to spend their days or nights with our minds full of those types of things. He stands at the right hand of the Father, waiting to hear our prayers. Remember this – It is very difficult to worry and pray at the same time. Letting our minds dwell on the negative consumes our energy, destroys our happiness and kills our trust in God. Worry is all about how we think. That is pointed out so clearly in a little verse I read once. Worry is an old man-- With a bended head-- Carrying a load of feathers-- Which he thinks are lead. The Apostle Peter offered us both guidance and comfort when he said . . . “SINCE GOD CARES FOR YOU, LET HIM CARRY ALL YOUR BURDENS AND WORRIES.” (1 Peter 5:7 Voice)
