No one injured in Cincinnati building collapse CINCINNATI (AP) – Authorities say no one was hurt when a large portion of a vacant, four-story building collapsed in downtown Cincinnati. A man who lives in an adjoining apartment building tells The Cincinnati Enquirer (cin.ci/147BELk ) that he initially thought a plane had hit the building when it crumbled around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Officials are unsure why the building collapsed, but the apartment dweller speculated that Prohibition-era tunnels beneath the building might be a factor. The newspaper reports that building inspectors on Sunday determined that surrounding buildings were safe. The building was constructed in 1865 and is owned by Historic Limited Liability Co. A section of the street where the building was located is expected to remain closed until at least Monday as workers remove debris.
