No one uproots and leaves their homeland for no reason to settle - TopicsExpress

No one uproots and leaves their homeland for no reason to settle in a distant land, where a strange language is spoken and different customs exist. People are compelled to migrate when the circumstances of hardship are outside their control. In the case of Puerto Rico, a country with such a developed economic infrastructure, the periodic migrations are one of the greatest symptoms of colonial oppression. If Puerto Rico was free and sovereign and had complete control of its resources, there would be no need for people to migrate out of necessity. There isnt any reason to doubt that wealth exist in Puerto Rico, created by Puerto Rican labor. The question is who controls it. And because the wealth in Puerto Rico is not controlled by the Puerto Rican people, needless to mention its institutions as well, it is what highlights Puerto Ricos colonial relationship to the United States.
