No one would ever argue with the fact that parenting is no easy task, but if more parents simply followed the ideology of Kelly Ripa, America would be better off. After recently relaying that her daughter isn’t talking to her, she later went on to say that she didn’t care and said, “I’m not your friend! I’m your mom.” The standing ovation worthy statement came about during an interview on the Wendy Williams Show, where Ripa first explained that her daughter broke one of the rules of the house – “no texting or tweeting during study hours,” according to Today. As a consequence for the violation, Ripa described, “[Lola] recently lost her computer and phone privileges, so it’s like taking away oxygen.” When asked if she thinks her daughter still “likes” her, she replied by saying, “I don’t think she likes me, but I don’t care.” And BOOM goes the dynamite. Ripa then went on to say that she isn’t going to loosen up anytime soon. “I just feel like an obligation, as her mom, to keep her living in the real world,” she concluded. Needless to say, the Today show panel was definitely on Ripa’s side as Savannah Guthrie backed the fellow mother saying, “To be friends suggests that you’re equals, and you don’t want to have that relationship. Somebody’s got to be the parent.”
