No plan to hire Myanmar white elephant to Thailand Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin separately held meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Surapong Towichchaikul while at the Forum for East Asia- Latin America Cooperation Meeting in Bali of Indonesia on 13 June. During the meeting, the Thai deputy prime minister expressed his interest in taking Myanmar white elephant to his country for six months on rental basis as a gesture of the 65th Anniversary of Myanmar- Thai diplomatic relations. He said that the Myanmar white elephant would be kept at Chiang Mai Zoo for the public display as Chiang Mai has over 200 years of good relations with Myanmar. UnionMinisterUWunna Maung Lwin replied that it would be difficult to transport the white elephant to Chiang Mai of Thailand. But, it could be convenient for the public to observe the white elephant in Myanmar if special flights are arranged. That would help assist Myanmar tourism industry apart from further relationships between the two peoples. MNA
